The High Holy Days
The High Holy Days are the Autumn or Fall festivals in the Jewish calendar. They begin with Rosh Hashanah or Jewish New Year on 1 Tishri, which usually occurs in September. This starts the Days of Awe, which culminate with Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement. Finally the joyful festival of Sukkot or Tabernacles is for eight days and involves making booths or shelters. The period is ended with the Rejoicing in the Law or Simchat Torah.
A Feast of Seasons has a full chapter on each of the three main High Holy Day Festivals. This give the history and development of the festivals, the New Testament links including the hope of Jesus' return in the Second Coming. There are many ideas for celebration and prayer.
