Aluminium distribution in the white pine (<I>Pinus strobus</I>) needle as determined by x-ray microanalysis. Needles were 2 years old, and taken from trees growing in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Analyses were conducted in six tissue areas (epidermis, hypodermis, mesophyll, endodermis, transfusion layer and xylem wall- abbreviations as in Fig. 1), at the base middle and tip regions of the needles. All determinations were the means of five replicates, and concentrations are expressed in mmol kg<FONT SIZE="1" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" >-1</FONT>.</div> <div> <B>Figure 3</B>.
