Outside work
Away from work, I am almost as busy as I am at it! As you might gather I love travelling- mostly in Israel, North America, Japan and Europe. I nearly always take a camera, as you never know you might see something useful for a lecture. My wife, Margot, and I like walking, and we are also keen on going to concerts (mostly classical). A few years ago my brother, Greg, and I started looking at our family tree, and I still dabble with that. And I spend quite a lot of time running our domain www.hodsons.org
I am a committed Christian and attend St. Clement's Church, not far from Oxford Brookes. In the past I have led a housegroup, and I helped get the website going. I am also very involved in Sage, Oxford's Christian environmental group, and was one of the first members in 1990. I am a Director of The John Ray Initiative and am co-director and Principal Tutor of the Certificate in Christian Rural and Environmental Studies (CRES). From September 2001 to August 2004 we moved out to Grove, near Wantage, as Margot was ordained and served as curate at St. John's, Grove. We moved back to Oxford in September 2004 for Margot to become Chaplain of Jesus College, Oxford University. Details of Margot's new work can be found at Chapel. Like Margot, I now divide my time between the Chapel and services at St. Clement's.
